Oona and Anthony changed their plans from a Madison, WI normal wedding to an Italian Tuscan elopement to a COVID induced backyard micro wedding. Talk about a whirlwind. These two are one of the kindest and most considerate couples I have ever met. They constantly supported every decision I made to help them and were so easy and flexible to work with.
When Anthony saw Oona walking down the aisle, tears started streaming down his face. Once they said their vows, there wasn’t a dry eye in the audience. These two were meant for each other.
When I first started talking with Oona and Anthony, they brought up something within the conversation that truly made me view what I do differently. They told me that as they were searching for a wisconsin wedding photographer, it was nearly impossible to find any with black people in their portfolios. They just wanted to know that a photographer was willing to work with a black couple and knew how to shoot their skin in different lighting situations and environments.
I was very honest with them at the time that I hadn’t shot many black couples but that I wanted them as my couple to be able to feel safe and comfortable enough with me to give me feedback if they were to ever feel like I wasn’t representing who they are as humans properly.
It was the first slap across the face that I needed to recognize a lot of issues within this industry and how there are photographers out there who rarely share a person of color. Anna Marie Photography is an ALL INCLUSIVE business who will never turn down a couple because of their sexual orientation, race or preferences.
Thank you Oona and Anthony, for being so humble, kind and generous in all you do. I am so happy this partnership brought out a friendship. Congratulations. <3
