Aghhh, the editing beast. You love photography and have nailed your in camera settings only to take it to Lightroom and realize you have no idea what the heck these panels do or even if you do, how to get them to work for YOUR brand or style.
Without further ado:
WHY CONFIDENT EDITING MAKES YOU A BETTER ARTIST
Knowing how to add in your personal style to an image is a HUGE way to attract your ideal client. By knowing how to edit your photos to be moody, bold, bright or vibrant is a key factor in attracting clients to your work. Figure out what kind of brand and style you want to emulate and then dive into what specific Lightroom Classic tools will help you get there (like contrast, lightened shadows or grain).
2. CREATE A VISION UNIQUE TO YOU
How can you approach your post process in a way that most photographers wouldn’t? How can you tell a story more effectively and give your clients images they will consider art? You have to KNOW the editing software in order to use it to the full extent. By utilizing tools like crop, transform and filters you can add flare to your images that goes beyond the average photographer. These tools take your images from good to great and allow you to not only tell a story but tell it in a way that only YOU can create.
3. ENHANCE THE IMAGE BEYOND THE BASICS
If you’re just adding in your basic exposure, temperature correction and contrast adjustments, you are MISSING OUT on all that you could do to an image. There are SO many tools Lightroom has to offer to transform your image like spot removal, texture effects and color filters. If you are ready to wow your clients, you have to show their photos and their story as much love as you can. This means adjusting an image beyond the basics to draw focus to what YOU want this image to represent.
You do not have to take a photo to the next level BUT being willing to create something more than just a photo is what makes a photographer an artist. Being willing to spend time focusing on your clients story and tell it beautifully will get you raved reviews and feedback. So how do we grow that confidence? By LEARNING Lightroom Classic and understanding how each panel can impact your portrait.
All the love,
Anna
