Nicole and I grew up in the same small town, first meeting in the same dance class two decades ago. She’s always been sweet, bubbly and full of energy. Last year, I got a message from her that she was engaged and in her message she said “when are you free in march, you’re my wedding photographer” without even asking for more information.
This past summer, I’ve never had to change my memory cards out for an engagement session but we were having so much fun running in the lake, playing football and laughing our butts off that their session went two hours before we walked through mud all the way back to our cars which brings us to Saturday.
Matt + Nicole balance each other in a way that a lot of us dream about. He is constantly laughing with her, fueling the giggles and giving her lots of love. Their wedding started off with Nicole doing an emotional first look with her mom and later her dad, crying throughout both moments. Then they both laughed their way through their ceremony, cheering at the end and hiding in a closet as to not chance hugging every guest and spreading a possible coronavirus.
After the ceremony, dinner started with groomsmen shotgunning beer, the bridal party dropping hand sanitizer in the hands of guests and her dad accidentally calling Matt Adam (even though there’s never been an Adam in Nicole’s life). It CONTINUED with Nicole’s brother rewriting the lyrics to an Elvis Presley ballad to sing about the love the couple has and the maid of honor giving a speech that had everyone in happy tears.
Once the dancing began, Matt + Nicole showed us dance moves that are now captured for decades. Their first dance was filled with so much love and the party continued with throwbacks all night long and a FULL dance floor. I had so much fun capturing these two and it’s THESE authentic moments that make me love what I do. Congrats Mr. + Mrs. McKone.
Anna is a kick ass wedding and intimate couples photographer based out of Madison, WI who will HAPPILY travel all over the globe. She is inspired by the raw, vulnerable and complex yet freakin’ beautiful differences between every couple she gets to create magic with. Her style is artsy, intimate, and purely honest to each and every couple and she knows that the best way to capture an image is to create a friendship with everyone she works with. It’s not just a photo session, it’s an experience and she proves that through the authentic photographs she captures.
