When I was little, I’d make my cousins be my models. For real. I would grab my bright green, brand new digital camera that my mom got me for my birthday and make them pose in the woods, in my room, on the grass with little flower crowns- you NAME it. It’s like the universe was throwing pretty big hints at me that I didn’t really figure out.

Fast forward to college where I was dabbling in photography for extra income and getting my degree in communication. I had no idea what I wanted to do, but I always had photography on the side as I was trying to figure it out. BUT, I was one of those people who said “Do I really want my passion as my career? Will I still like it?” So I didn’t really give it much thought considering I was currently adding on thousands of dollars to get a degree.

Graduation comes and I get my FIRST job at a small college in Madison doing student services. I quickly learned that the school was a sinking ship and knew I was going to either have to quit or be let go any day. SO, I applied for several jobs in Madison (to no avail) to finally get smacked in the face with an idea that changed the course of my life.

I decided to teach English in Europe.

I committed in December of 2016, quit my job in June of 2017 and at my going away party, had a conversation with a super cute, tall Norwegian guy that I now have a dog and home with. (aka I met the love of my life 3 weeks before I left). I was gone for only 3 months after my visa was denied for residency and I didn’t want to risk getting kicked out for 10 years so naturally I moved back in with my parents.

I had a completely blank canvas.

Luckily, I’m from a family of business owners so I worked as my mom’s assistant while trying to figure out what the heck to do. In January of 2018, I was talking with my family and decided that I was going to give photography a shot. Like ACTUALLY promote myself and work really really hard for 6 months and see what happens. Just SIX months. I wanted to see what I could really do if I put my heart and soul behind it.

In that six months, my business took off. I moved back to Madison in April, worked my BUTT off to break into the Madison market, and started bartending to supplement my income. I shot 6 weddings that year and booked 20 for the past year. I. WORKED. MY. BOOTY. OFF.

I made a financial plan and MET it to be able to launch my full time business in May of 2019 and it has allowed me the freedom and dedication to expand my business into what it is right now but not even close to what it will be.

Throughout the past two years, I’ve realized that I LOVE shooting couples, capturing connection and celebrating the ultimate party of love. I realized that my background love for travel has inspired me to shoot elopements, getaways or just for fun travel trips to combine my two greatest passions.

Here I am today.

I am growing so much and have come SO far and it wasn’t by luck or chance. I worked my BUTT off to be able to be a full time business owner and will continue to inspire newbie photogs and capture couples around the world.
